Elaine Dundon is Chief Meaning Officer of The Meaning Group and co-founder of The OPA! Way®, a new paradigm and approach to Living & Working with Meaning that is uniquely inspired by Greek philosophy and culture.
Following the completion of her MBA degree, Elaine spent 15 years working in Business Strategy, including Brand Management at Procter & Gamble. Sensing a growing interest in the area of Innovation Management, Elaine founded The Innovation Group Consulting Inc. (1995), as well as designed and taught the groundbreaking, integrated course on Innovation Management in North America in the business program at the University of Toronto (1999). She authored an international best-selling book, The Seeds of Innovation, which was named by The Globe and Mail as a "top 10 business read of the year" and has appeared on numerous top ten best-selling lists since its initial release. The book has been translated for the fast-growing markets of China and Russia and published by Prentice-Hall for the market in India. Her work has also been featured globally in numerous publications, including The Futurist, Global CEO India, Executive Excellence, HR Innovator, Journal for Quality and Participation, Leadership Excellence, among others.
Elaine has worked with and advised hundreds of amazing people in some of the world's best businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations, including ADP, American Society for Quality, Astra-Zeneca, Cargill, Carlson Hotels Worldwide, Citigroup, The Conference Board, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Kraft Foods, Mars Inc., The Mayo Clinic, New York & Company, Ontario Public Service (Canada), Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Vancity, among others.
As her work in Innovation Management evolved, her focus shifted to the "Human Side of Innovation," and specifically Meaning, which her experience and research show is the key area for determining success. Again, sensing a growing interest in this area of Meaning, Elaine co-founded The Meaning Group. She also travelled many times to Greece, the land of philosophers. Thousands of years ago, Plato proclaimed "Man—a being in search of meaning," and Socrates advised "Know thyself!" Elaine ("Eleni" or "Ελένη" in Greek) continued to study Greek philosophy and Metaphysics, earning a Ph.D. degree in this area, and has co-authored an exciting new book on The OPA! Way (forthcoming, BenBella Books 2014).
Now in her role as Chief Meaning Officer of The Meaning Group, Elaine is leading the Meaning Movement by helping others truly live and work from their "Core of Meaning." Elaine helps individuals live with more Meaning in their personal lives as well as engage and innovate with more Meaning in their work lives. Elaine also advises leaders on how to inspire Meaning-driven innovation and organizational cultures. The journey continues... OPA!
